Tour Our Facility
Andover Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary medical and surgical facility for small animals. Our pet patients include dogs, cats, rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, snakes, lizards, and even fish (just to name a few).
Andover Animal Hospital has continually served Andover, Sparta, and the surrounding communities of Sussex County since 1958. The practice was established by Dr. Emil Perona and located on Route 517 in Sparta for 53 years. Dr. Harvey Hummel joined Andover Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in June 1995, and later acquired the practice and assumed the role of Medical Director in January 2000.
The practice grew over the years and it became clear that more space was needed. In November 2010, after more than five years of searching for the ideal location, Dr. Hummel purchased the big, old red barn on the corner of Limecrest and Newton Sparta Roads in Andover Township. Construction involving a complete "gut," renovation, and 1,000 sq ft addition began in June 2011. The new 8,000 sq ft, state of the art facility welcomed its first patients on December 31, 2011.
